Shyann Harris-Edwards
Shyann was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on June 28, 2017. She immediately began an intense treatment protocol and coded under her first sedation. She lived in the hospital for the first months and has been in and out frequently. Shyann’s treatment will last about two and a half years if there aren’t any major complications.
Shyann was diagnosed on June 28, 2017 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). She was 11 months old at that time. She will turn two on July 28th. When she was first diagnosed, Shyann coded and stopped breathing. The doctors were quickly able to get her back, and at that moment the doctor said that her family’s life would now be “chaos.”
It has indeed been a chaotic journey and Shyann still has about two years of treatment left if everything goes smoothly. The family remains positive and is so grateful to feel the love of Jayhawk Nation.
Shyann loves music and pretending like she is cooking or playing with her dolls! These things also help keep her distracted when she is being accessed through her port.
