Oliver Combes

Next on our lineup is… 🥁🥁🥁 Oliver Combes!

Oliver is six years old and hails from Overbrook, Kansas.

He is the beloved son of Adam and Kristin Combes and the cherished little brother to Jacob and Charleigh. A proud kindergartener at Overbrook Attendance Center, Oliver lights up every room with his boundless curiosity, kindness, and unstoppable energy.

In early October 2024, Oliver’s family received life-changing news. After a few days of unexplained leg pain, a visit to the pediatrician led to X-rays, scans, and ultimately a biopsy. The diagnosis: Osteosarcoma—a rare and aggressive bone cancer. The tumor was located on his right distal femur, and from that moment on, Oliver and his family began a courageous and complex journey through treatment and recovery.

Oliver began chemotherapy immediately in October. Through grueling sessions and countless hospital visits, he showed strength far beyond his years. The chemo worked to shrink the tumor, and in mid-January, Oliver underwent a specialized surgery called a Rotationplasty. This innovative procedure removed the tumor and part of his leg while preserving his mobility—paving the way for a future filled with running, jumping, and playing with the help of a prosthetic.

In February, chemotherapy resumed to target any remaining cancer cells and reduce the risk of recurrence. Throughout it all, Oliver has been nothing short of amazing. His resilience shines during physical therapy sessions, where he’s learning to hop with a walker and tackle every challenge with unmatched determination.

We’re beyond honored to have him as one of this year’s Rock Chalk Roundball Classic beneficiaries.

Let’s give Oliver a big Rock Chalk welcome! 💙❤️
