Matthew Martin

Matthew Martin, an 8-year-old from Liberty, MO.

In 2015 at the age of 2, Matt was diagnosed with ALL. This form of leukemia was supposed to take about three years to treat. Matt experienced many setbacks and illnesses during his treatment at Children’s Mercy. Matthew is on relapse number six and has undergone three rounds of traditional chemotherapy and two with Car T cells. Unfortunately, the Car T-cell treatment failed. Matt is now undergoing treatment for a bone marrow transplant.

Even on the roughest of hospital stays, Matt smiles and is his fun, loving, energetic and ornery self. He loves the outdoors and loves sharing that passion with other kids. Matt loves to make other people happy and is always thinking about the world around him. He takes great pride in being a big brother to his sister Mackenzie.

Matt hopes that someday he can help other kids and siblings understand the cancer world, and he does because he is a professional cancer fighter!
