John Gatewood Memorial Contributions

John loved his KU Jayhawks!

John adored his grandsons, and was often the biggest kid on the block. More than anything, he was a protector of all children.

John hated cancer and the thought of any child being harmed by it would have broken his heart. That’s why his family has chosen to donate his memorial contributions to the Rock Chalk Roundball Classic.

John was a dedicated KU fan, win or lose. Please join us in helping these families and this great organization with your donation to Rock Chalk Roundball Classic.

Thank you,
The Gatewood Family

What is the Rock Chalk Roundball Classic?

Since its inception in 2009, the Rock Chalk Roundball Classic has raised funds for the families of local children who are undergoing treatment for cancer.

The game’s founder and organizer is Brian Hanni, the Voice of the Jayhawks, who wanted to use his platform in Kansas Athletics to remind former KU stars of the position of influence they still have even after their days at Allen Fieldhouse are over.

All donations go directly to families facing a medical diagnosis like cancer. The money covers medical bills and travel expenses to see specialists. It helps ease the financial burden placed on families, and helps them to focus on what matters: getting better.

THESE KIDS ARE HERE TO LOVE AND SURVIVE. WE’RE HERE TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE THE SUPPORT—AND THE JOY—THEY NEED AND DESERVE.
